Marie de Guzman - Behavourial Neuroscientist

Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Marie de Guzman is a Behavioural Neuroscientist, specialising in the relationship between the brain and behaviour.

Following five years working in the healthcare industry, Marie moved into the fields of business, marketing and communications where she applied her knowledge of behaviour and motivation. She managed the communications of Canadian MPs, including a Secretary of State, before becoming Business Development Manager for the national charity Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. Looking to add a bit of ‘spice’ to her portfolio, she then took her marketing skills into the promotional world of music, managing independent recording artists in the U.S. and working with major record label clients such as Interscope, Jive, and Dreamworks.

Moving to London in 2001, Marie worked in the advertising industry before working with FTSE 100 companies, handling marketing and communications. She has also worked as a marketing / communications and project management consultant for several Government projects.

Marie's career has come full-circle. A professional coach and mentor, Marie now uses her Behavioural Neuroscience background to help individuals make changes in their lives by using a range of techniques based on the brain’s natural ability to undergo physiological changes, and has designed a scientific framework that applies across The Mangrove's offerings to support the coaching, learning and development of others. She also advises Government on topics such as behavioural change, healthy ageing, personal development, well-being and independence.

Marie has university degrees in Behavioural Neuroscience (Neuropsychology), Political Science and Law. She is also a Registered Cardiology Technologist, a Certified Prince2 Project Manager, a Certified Professional Coach and a member of the International Coach Federation.
