Marie de Guzman - Professional Coach & Mentor
Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Marie has an extremely varied - and versatile background. Trained in Neuroscience, Marie started her career in the health care industry in Canada. After five years of working in the medical field, she decided to apply her knowledge of the human behaviour into the world of marketing and communications. After handling communications for Canadian MPs and Minister, she worked as Business Development Manager with the national charity Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind - a fulfilling role which challenged her marketing skills and honed the innovative guerilla marketing techniques she stands by today. Looking to add a bit of ‘spice’ to her portfolio, she then took her marketing skills into the promotional world of music, managing independent recording artists in the U.S. and working with major record label clients such as Interscope, Jive, and Dreamworks.
Moving to London in 2001, Marie worked in the advertising industry before working with FTSE 100 companies, handling marketing and communications. She has also worked as a marketing/communications and project management consultant for several Government projects.
Marie’s educational background is just as colourful as her professional background. She has separate university degrees in Neuroscience (specialising in Neuropsychology), Political Science and Law. Marie is also a Registered Cardiology Technologist (always handy!), a Certified Prince2 Project Manager, and a Certified Professional Coach. She is also a member of the International Coach Federation.
A classically trained pianist with the Canadian Royal Conservatory of Music, Marie has also been a private piano teacher in her spare time. Enjoying her work with private students, Marie has also worked as a private tutor in Maths and Science.
With over 15 years of experience in marketing and communications, Marie's career has "become" full-circle. A professional coach and mentor, Marie utilises her Behavioural Neuroscience background in the fields of coaching, learning and development, and business development - having designed a scientific framework that applies across The Mangrove's offerings. As part of The Mangrove's Business Development offering, her aim is to share her knoweldge and expertise with others, including individuals who run their own businesses to build, grow and sustain their business.
